LimeWire

LimeWire-PRO-5.1.4Lime wire is the best peer to peer sharing software for direct download. Peer to peer basically means the user will download the file from various users part by part. If one of the parts doesn’t transfer fully then the portion is obtained from another user. So you don’t run out of options in this case. If the file or torrent are quite famous and recent then the probability of running out of peers is next to nil. In lime wire and ares all you have to do is type the file name in the field and the server searches all the users for the file and matching contents. This way you get what ever file you want. Though some users have fake files in the list, you can preview your file as it gets downloaded. This saves a lot of time as we can avoid downloading the fake files fully. When it comes to torrents the re is a different story altogether. Here the full file has to be downloaded and only then the user can view it. But the main advantage is, if the file is a fake one you wont have many sources for it. Thus it is also an efficient way of downloading files. So peer to peer has completely redefined downloading files in the last few years and downloading will probably become more easier in the days to come.

Google Goggles

Google GogglesWant to get information about a picture but you do not even know its name or you want to search about something using its picture rather than using its name, then here is where you can land at-Google Goggles. The latest technology developed by the computer industry giant Google. Just take a picture of whatever you want to know about and use Google Goggles to know everything about it. This software technology is available in Android mobiles. Let it be a landmark or a picture of a book or any painting or a logo of any company or whatever it might be just take a picture of it and use Google Goggles to know about it. This software uses Internet technology to access Google’s search engine. This technology is still under development. This will be very useful while searching for a thing about which you do not about its name and have only its photo. Also it is more user-friendly because just by taking a picture, which is less hectic than typing, you can search about it. This technology can mainly be used by tourists to know about a place by just having a photograph of that place. Also you can access Google maps to search for the location of the place.

E-cigarettes

e-cigarIt is hard to find a person who doesn’t have smoking habit. Every tom, dick and harry could be seen smoking. Such a common habit it has turned out to be. The reality is that people are actually aware of the fact that smoking is injurious but then they find many reasons for doing so. Some say it’s a piece of tension reliever and for others it may be an addiction. Whatever the reason may be, we find that people actually really want to quit smoking but find that to be as a very big deal. May be if cigarettes were rendered less harmful to health it would be an amazing approach. And it is for this reason that e-cigarettes can come in very handy. For people reading this might wonder what is so special about e-cigarettes. Well if a replica of some item is produced and if it had the same effects as that of the original but created less harm than the former then it could be very much appreciated. Such is the case of e-cigarettes which is less harmful than the traditional and the so called normal ‘cigarettes’. It has an LED at its tip which gives the same feeling as that of smoking. Nicotine contents are comparatively low and the best part is that you don’t have to switch to another new cigarette every time. And above all this is comparatively safer.

HDMI Ports

HDMI port

HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. It is the technology used to interface audio and video data. The data is sent or received in digital form. The main advantage of using this technology is that both audio and video can be sent on a single cable. This replaces the old technologies of sending video and audio signals using different cables. It gives a very high bandwidth of up to 10.2 GB/s which is more than enough to transmit very high quality signals like blue ray quality video. One of the advantages is that it is very well compatible with technologies like DVI (Digital Visual Interface). Though HDMI standard is basically based on DVI, it is more advantageous than DVI because DVI can carry only video signals but HDMI can carry both video and audio signals. Also the length of HDMI cables can be longer than that of DVI cables. There are many versions of HDMI cables among which version 1.3 is very widely used. Version 1.4 is the latest version. The HDMI technology is still getting explored and is very much wide spread. It has many applications in various fields that too in the field of multimedia communication. Many electronic gadgets like Blue-ray player, DVD players, Game Consoles, laptops etc have inbuilt HDMI ports in them.

Apple iPhone

Apple_iphone

One of the most widely used electronic gadgets throughout the world. It was manufactured by Apple Inc and was first released on June 29, 2007. It is used as a phone, a tool to access internet, camera device, a multi-media device and what not. First it was introduced in United States. To access internet it is embedded with web accessing tools like web browser, Wi-Fi connectivity etc. So far three generations of I-phones have been introduced namely the basic model, 3G (released on July 11, 2008) having GPS and faster data speed and the last one is 3GS (released on June 19, 2009) having voice control and more megapixel camera. It has LCD touch screen of about 9cm height which also supports multi-touch sensing. It also supports wireless headphones by inbuilt Bluetooth device. The latest version of iPhone has the storage capacity of about 32 GB. IPhones are also provided with moisture sensors to check whether moisture has damaged any parts of the iPhone. The iPhone runs on an OS called iPhone OS which is actually based on Darwin OS core which is used in Mac OS systems. IPhones has iTunes for playing audio and video files effectively. IPhones use Safari as the web browser. IPhones also have facilities to show the maps of a particular location, their live traffic status, etc.

Cloud Computing

cloud320Cloud Computing is anything that gives hosted services over the internet. Cloud Computing got its name from the cloud symbol used in flow charts and diagrams to represent the internet. It has three different properties that distinguish it from the traditional hosting services. It is generally bought depending upon the hour wise or minute wise demand of the user. It is elastic (i.e.) users can have as little as they want or as much as they want and the provider manages all the services (but the user needs a computer and a good stable internet connection for accessing it). There are two types of clouds. They are private and public clouds. A private cloud is a cloud that is particular to a particular group of people (i.e.) offers services to a limited number of people. If public resources are used by a private cloud then it is known as a public cloud. The main goal of cloud computing is to provide scalable and easy access to resources that are provided by information technologies. Users of cloud computer technology can avoid the capital expenditure on software and hardware when they pay only for their usage costs. In general, the customers of cloud computing don’t own any physical infrastructure instead they rent it from the provider.

Super Capacitors

SuperCap

A Super Capacitor is similar to that of a regular capacitor. But in a super capacitor even a small package has a very high capacitance. Here energy is stored by means of static energy. In a regular capacitor, energy is stored as an electro chemical process. Voltage is applied between the positive and the negative plates to charge the super capacitor. This concept is similar to the building of static electricity when someone walks on a carpet. Some newer designs allow still higher capacities in a smaller size capacitor. Superconductors operate at a very high temperature. Hence they are generally connected in series with each other. It needs voltage balancing while operating to prevent any cell from reaching over voltage. If an aqueous electrolyte is used it offers very low internal resistance but voltage gets limited to 1 volt. But in the case of an organic electrolyte the internal resistance is higher but voltage limit can be increased to 2.5 volts. The measure of the capacity of a capacitor is micro farads. While Regular capacitors can hold energies up to few Pico-farads, super capacitors can hold energies in farads. Super capacitors are normally used as memory backups to withstand power interruptions.

Neural Networks

neural_networkingTraditionally, the neural network term is used to refer biological neural networks, but in modern usage it refers to the network formed by the artificial neurons or nodes. Here the neurons are also known as the nodes. The inspiration for this model came from the examination of the central nervous system and the complex network of neurons in humans. Artificial neuron networks are nothing but the software implementation of biological neuron networks. Artificial intelligence is the mathematical implementation of neural networks with functions similar to f: X->Y. Neural networks can be used for extracting patterns and for detecting trends that are very complex to be detected by human beings or by other computer technologies. They have a different approach for solving problems compared to regular computer technologies. Neural networks and conventional computers are complement to each other. There are certain problems that are more suitable for neural networks than conventional computers. Similarly, some problems are more suitable for conventional computers than neural networks. Information is processed in neural network similar to how a human brain processes information. The main disadvantage of neural network is that errors are not predictable. But conventional computers which follow cognitive approach for solving problems are more predictable.

Biometric Recognition

biometric-

Biometric recognition is a technique for uniquely identifying humans based on their physical or behavioral traits. In information technology it is used for access control and management. It has two main classes – psychological and behavioral. Psychological class is related to the size and shape of the body. Odor/scent recognition and iris recognition also come under this class. Behavioral class is related to the behaviors of an individual person. It includes typing rhythm, gait, voice, etc. Voice comes under psychological trait because vocal cord is different in every person.  But generally voice recognition is based on the way a person speaks. So it comes under behavioral class. The operation of a biometric system can be classified into two modes.  They are verification mode and identification mode. In verification mode a person is checked if he is the person what he claims to be. In identification mode an unknown individual is identified by the system if he is the right person to access a particular database or service. When an individual uses the system for the first time, the system gathers information regarding the individual and this process is known as enrollment. In biometric systems, sensors act as an interface between the real world and the system itself.
